I was pretty nervous picking a dark brown hair dye because of the multiple times in the past my hair has turned out completely black and definitely not just dark brown. My usual hair dye is the L'oreal Casting Creme in Plum but I found myself getting a bit sick of the plum tones in my hair so I wanted just a simple dark brown. I researched this product a lot before picking it up and it seemed worth giving it a shot. As you can see, my hair turned out very similar to the picture on the front of the packaging (maybe just a little lighter) and I was very happy with the colour and the condition my hair was in after washing out the dye and using the conditioner.
The problem with this dye though was that it was a very difficult, fiddly application. I am no stranger to hair dye and I have tried my fair share of brands and this was probably the worst experience I have had dying my hair just because of the mess and difficulty. I was so used to such an easy application because of my religious use of the L'oreal Casting Creme so I had definitely not prepared myself for this one! So just a warning to be prepared. The colour stained my skin very easily and took a few days to completely disappear whereas the L'oreal dye does not stain. It is also a permanent colour (unlike L'oreal Casting Creme) however I did notice it does lighten quite a bit over time.
Overall this is a great dye - the colour turned out very much like on the box and it left my hair in quite good condition. The dark brown itself is a great colour and not too dark that it looks black. I would recommend this if you aren't specifically looking for a very easy and quick hair dye, but if you are having a friend or family member dye your hair for you or you just have plenty of time to do it properly, then this is great.
